Onion Dip (aka Cracker Crack)

This recipe has been modified from the original, so much so, in fact, that I now call it my own.

Start with an onion  or two, chopped fine – in a non stick pan, soften the onion in a bit of canola oil, add a pinch of salt, a pinch of italian seasoning.   Once the onions are done, add a tablespoon of honey or sugar, and a large dash of vinegar.   Let this mixture cool for a bit.

in the mean time….

Take a package of cream cheese and equal amount of mayonnaise and mix together.  Add the onion mixture.

Blend together well.   adjust seasoning to taste…  garnish with finely chopped green onion.

Serve with crackers or crunchy vegetables.   This is guaranteed to be a hit at any potluck – so much so, that you can’t just take one – you and your guests will be back for more.
